The Canterbury Primary School is part of The Canterbury Academy and is located on The Canterbury Campus which also accommodates City Pre-School & Nursery, The Canterbury High School, The Sixth Form, The Enterprise & Employability College and Canterbury Adult Education including several other organisations all working together to provide a range of opportunities for the children and the local community.
A gentle introduction is managed in a way that aims to minimise the anxieties that children and parents often experience. It builds on an established induction programme, which includes opportunities to visit the school in the summer term.
Staff arrange to meet with the nurseries the children are coming from and also arrange meetings with parents and children prior to starting in September.
Pupils early school experiences will be based very much on activities that deliver the curriculum through a variety of child-initiated opportunities to learn through 'play', in an engaging and exciting way.
The school has a reputation for its impressive displays and stimulating learning environment and this is never more so than in the reception class. The progress of every child will be tracked carefully using the Early Years Foundation Profile and activities will be designed to bring out the best in every young person.
"Provision in the foundation stage is very good and is one of the school's strengths." OfSTED
Transition in to years 1 and 2 will see your child gradually introduced to a more formal style of learning.
Our curriculum is creative by nature and based on topics and themes, we strive to make the learning experience relevant to the world our children live in and to give them the best start in their lifelong journey of learning.
